Enhancing Executive Leadership

In this workshop, Susanna will share with you some core elements of executive leadership and ways to enhance and incorporate those elements at work and in Toastmasters.

Susanna Wong, DTM, is a communication and leadership trainer, and an executive coach for global corporations, such as UOB, HSBC, and PwC, who has conducted people skills training in Asia, Europe, and America. Having been a Division Director in Districts F & 89, Susanna is the Founding President of the Professional Trainers Toastmasters Club (Hong Kong) and SoCal English Mandarin Bilingual Toastmasters (USA), a conference presenter in Districts 85, 89 and 118, and a motivational speaker who never ceases to entertain and challenge her audiences with new and insightful perspectives.

Mentoring is the foundation of Toastmasters, which is instrumental in the delivery of Toastmasters promises giving a member an enhanced experience therefore developing a strong supporting club environment in membership growth. In this workshop, Toastmasters will learn: 

  • Why Mentoring is so crucial for ascertaining the quality of a club.
  • How it helps in the transformation of experience.
  • How each member is capable of contributing in the growth and mission of Toastmasters.

Bhanu Dabadi is an acclaimed Trainer, Educator, Mentor, and Human Excellence Coach. He is a Toastmaster since 1998, earned the title of Distinguished Toastmasters (DTM), and is currently involved in three Districts, D41, D103 & Founder’s District. He has completed EC5, MS5, and VC2 in Pathways. He is a Preferred Trainer in D103, the Club Coach(D103), and served as a Division Director ( Div C of D103). He has served as an Associate Club Growth Director, Associate Program Quality Director, and Area Director in D41. He is a Chartered member of Smedley Chapter One Advanced Toastmasters, California ( Founder’s District). He has sponsored and mentored clubs and many members.

He comes with 25 years of experience working in the corporate world in various capacities of Senior Member of Management Committee, Head Sales, Head Human Resource Management, and Head Corporate Communication and Branding. He is a visiting faculty of Westcliff University and the University of West England. He has done a Master of Arts, Executive MBA, M.Phil, and a Ph.D.

In this session, you will learn how to leverage on all 10 meeting roles to acquire, polish and utilize the skills and competencies necessary to excel in your personal and professional life. The outcome is a better club experience and better self-growth.

Patricia Yap is a stockbroker by profession. She was awarded District 51 Toastmaster Of The Year 2019-2020. Now, she is currently serving as Director of Division P (the largest Division in District 51). She found her passion in public speaking while pursuing her MBA in 2014. She believes Toastmasters is the most effective *GAME CHANGER* to unzip our peak potential as an effective communicator and influential leader. During her free time, she enjoys listening to podcasts, kickboxing and doing FB Live.

Profiles of Excellence – Build and Maintain Your Winning Team

This interactive workshop will present the seven business profiles essential to creating a High Performance Decision Making Team. The concept is offered in a fun and memorable way, with participants able to immediately take away actionable skills.


They will be able to quickly identify the seven profiles in people the interact with every day…including family.


They will learn how to approach them with ideas and suggestions spoken in their language and dealing with their concerns, in order to quickly achieve agreement.


They will understand how these profiles work in the business environment and everywhere else where teamwork is required.


These skills will enhance their negotiation efforts to achieve satisfactory, win-win solutions.


Through theatre games and discussion, participants will have a memorable and productive experience.

Carl Walsh has been a Toastmaster for 17 years. He was a finalist for the World Championship of Public Speaking in 2009, representing Founders District. 
Carl spent 28 years in Corporate America, eventually rising to I.T. Director of Quality Services.

After leaving the Corporate world in 2009, he has spoken to groups across the country about building their businesses and Business Teams, and is currently appearing regularly to London
audiences. He is a Professional member of the National Speakers Association.

He is also, currently the co-host of The Oval Table podcast, available on all major platforms. The podcast serves the small and closely held business community. In 34 episodes (and running), the podcast has hosted such world authorities as: Patricia Fripp, Jim Cathcart, Scott McKain, David Noor, Mark Hunter, Susan RoAne, Joel Block, Derek Arden, Antonio White and many others.

Today, Carl will be discussing how to create and maintain your High Performance Decision Making Team.

Kathy Hughes is Founder's District Club Growth Director 2021-22 and Founder's District Program Quality Director-elect for 2022-23. Kathy retired in December 2019 as Director of Research & Development Software Quality at Broadcom. Over the last 11 years she has served many Toastmasters leadership roles in her clubs and at the District Level. She has a passion for finding new ways to give members in our clubs more resources to help them thrive and grow. Besides Toastmasters, Kathy is especially proud of her family, 3 children and 3 grandchildren.

 

 

Lance Webster

The Way to an Audience's Heart

How does one become an amazing speaker? By giving the audience an experience that is relevant, memorable, and worthwhile. Lance Webster will present his step-by-step approach to creating your next speech, one that will leave your audience wanting more!

Lance Webster was Toastmaster District 52’s Director in 2016-2017. He is a Distinguished Toastmaster, a member of his District’s distinguished Speakers Bureau, and has been a Toastmaster for 23 years. In that time, he has served in every club officer role, sponsored three clubs, and mentored 4 clubs including one in Pune, India. He has taught public speaking as a full time Instructor at the University of Baltimore, and created speech courses for UCLA’s Journalism & PR Extension program and Pepperdine’s business school seniors. He is currently a member of District 52’s Wine and Dine Toastmasters, and Studio City Speakers - a club he founded 13 years ago.  He is also an active member and educational coach for Yangon Toastmasters in Myanmar, District 97. All three clubs finished the year as President’s Distinguished!

Lance has spent his career in broadcast advertising, promotion and publicity and co-authored and edited the only college and professional textbook on the subject. He spent the 1970’s and 1990’s working I PR for the PBS Television Network; and has worked in association management as head of several industry PR associations.  He has also worked for and served on the boards of two Hollywood-based environmental associations, helping craft environmental messages that have reached a billion people worldwide.  He has also been a life coach, a corporate and executive media trainer, and a Keller Williams real estate agent.

Pathways Base Camp Management

Three club officers have Base Camp Manager responsibility: Club President, VP Education and Secretary   These officers are needed for members to advance from one level to another, and through Path Completion.

This session provides training for not only these officers, but all members that are using Pathways Learning Experience.   Base Camp Managers are needed to approve level and path completions, approve requests to from members to speak outside of the club as well as how to track the member's progress in the level and path in order to work the Distinguished Club Program. You will also receive information on how to move thru the Pathways site to assist your members.

This session is open to ALL members as it builds an understanding as to how Pathways Base Camp Manager works.

Julie Murphy has a passion for all thing’s communication. She currently serves as Founder’s Districts Public Relations Manager and was awarded the 2019-2020 Toastmaster of the Year!  When she’s not busy with Toastmasters, she is a Senior Corporate Communications analyst at Kia, focusing on Internal Communications.
